In the spirit of cooperation and friendly co-existence, the Vice-Chancellor has organized a grand party in honour of the Chiefs and Queenmothers of the surrounding communities at the Vice-Chancellor’s Lodge. The occasion was used to thank God for a fruitful year and to ask God to strengthen the ties between the two institutions.
The gathering was well attended by Nananom in their rich traditional regalia, showcasing colourful and rich culture. The Nananom present included Nana Gyimahene Ankoana II (Ahinsanhene), Nana Akosua Fobih (Ahensanhemaa), Nana Opoku Agyeman Bawuah Bansarfo (Ayeduasehene), Nana Antwi (Domeabrahene) and Nana Ampofowaa (Domeabrahemaa). Also present were Nana Awuah-Nimfuor II (Boadinene), Nana Akosua Frimpongmaa (Oduomhemaa), Kentinkronohene and Nana Adusah, paramount Chief of Asebu Traditional Area, among others
The Vice-Chancellor gave a background to the gathering and stressed the importance he attaches to the relationship between the University and the surrounding communities. He assured Nananom that the University would continue to support them and help in the intellectual development of the indigenes of their land.
On behalf of Nananom, Nana Adusah was thankful to the Vice-Chancellor for the continued cooperation and support they receive from the University. He said the relationship between the University and Nananom had greatly improved under Prof. Adarkwah. He admonished his colleagues to ensure that the education of their indigenes was of top priority and that they take advantage of the presence of the University for the youth in their communities to aspire to greater heights in their education.
The Vice-Chancellor presented gift hampers to Nananom in appreciation of their cooperation throughout the year.
